Florida Georgia Line (FGL) gained popularity through their unique sound that blended traditional country music with hip-hop, rock, and pop elements.
After meeting at Belmont University in 2008, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley formed FGL in 2010 and were soon discovered by Nickelback producer, Joey Moi. The duo’s first single, “Cruise,” was a huge hit and attracted interest from major labels. Released in April 2012, the track reached number 1 on the US Billboard Country Airplay chart and has since been certified a whopping 14 x Platinum in the US.
A debut album, Here’s to the Good Times, followed, becoming the sixth-best-selling album of 2013. The album featured the hit singles “Round Here” and “Stay,” which both charted in the top 10 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
FGL’s success was further propelled by their live performances, which featured a high-energy show that was well-received by fans. The duo also collaborated with popular artists such as Nelly, Jason Derulo, and The Chainsmokers, which helped to expand their fan base. Overall, Florida Georgia Line’s unique sound, hit singles, and live performances have helped them to become one of the most successful country acts of the last decade.
